Hello All,

Long time Lurker, Here will be my official Build page for my Luv Truck.
I will be posting here for Non FB members and here is my Facebook Blog (https://www.facebook.com/ChevishLUV/?no ... 5244878051). I just started this Facebook page for Project ChevishLUV, slow process but will update as much as possible as the build goes.

So here it is:
Day 1 of getting the 1978 Chevy LUV stepside 1.8L 4cyl on May 2016. Picked up in Mt. Vernon, WA and drove it home barely on the freeway and took the rest home by side streets.

The journey of building Project ChevishLUV (#Chevish and/or #ChevishLUV). Mild build with a 4G63T mated with TH350 auto trans. #RWD4G63

Some interior shots. Picked up this bench seat at a junk yard last summer. I will redo my carpet and door cards later and maybe headliner. Pop up sun roof to top it off.

The stock little 1.8L 4cyl 60hp motor with a 32/36 Weber carb with 82xxx miles will soon be gone.

That is an incredibly solid looking truck. Those don't exist in Massachusetts, because they have all turned into dust. It's going to be fun with the new engine though. What wiring harness will you be using? Looks like a lot of 2G stuff in the pictures from what I can tell.

Yeah mostly surface rust on the bed but pretty clean overall.
I did pick up a 1G gsx harness so it will be easier to do. But I am not an electrical person, all mechanical for me, so I will be needing help on that for sure. And I will need an idea how to make some motor mounts, I am not a welder too lol.

You've come to the right place for both of those tasks!

Tonneau cover I built or made fit the stepside bed. Came from a Chevy avalanche but short couple of inches so I added some vinyl.

Disassembled the motor and check for anything broken or missing. Has eagle rods and wiesco pistons. All looking good so far. Back in June 2017 more to come...

So I added gates racing timing belt, oem timing components, added mighty max water pump, jay racing alternator relocation kit for my 90 amp galant alternator and pressed the water pump pulley to line up the alt, wp and crank pulley. Getting closer to finish this motor.

Nicely done! Did you grind the water pump to make sure the timing tensioner can move freely?

Yup! grinded it down a bit. The hardest part was finding a press (harbor Freight) to press my Water pump pulley to line up. Pulley is not 100% (maybe 90%) lined up but it should be fine when its running.
