Well, my 2000 Galant 2.4L Automatic daily driver has a transmission that is slowly but surely getting sketchier. SO......since I hate automatics, I will be swapping a 5 speed into it in the spring
.
Here is the game plan:
1) Collect all the parts needed to swap it to a 5 speed.
-00-05 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L 5 speed Transmission
-2G Eclipse FWD flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, TOB
-2G Eclipse Starter with washers as spacers
-Shifter Assembly
-Shifter cables
-Clutch Master Cylinder with Reservoir
-Brake and Clutch Pedals
-Slave cylinder with clutch lines

Then:
-Swap my JDM headlights and grille onto the car, which involves modifying the radiator support a little, and rewiring the headlights.

Biggity Bam, This should be fun! Pictures and progress to come as the parts are collected.

Oh and the total cost will hopefully be less than $800-900

-Jeremy

A few pictures of what I am working with:

A few things that I hate are:

-The front license plate location. It sticks out and looks dumb, I may recess it into the bumper off to one side. We'll see.

-Automatic transmission....awful boring to drive

-The headlights and grille are us-spec. The JDM ones are already in my posession and look WAY cooler. The downfall is that they are wired differently and require some modifications to the radiator support to make them fit.

-The height of the front of the car. It looks like a damn 4x4, but I can't afford lower springs & struts at this time, so it will stay that way for a while.

- Wheels are horrendously stock. I would like some 17's, but once again, it isn't in the budget, so it's added to the wishlist.

Well, It appears that I was hosed by a guy that was selling me a transmission. It is a really long and disappointing story, but the morals to learn here are:
1) EDITED: DON'T Use Paypal when buying from people OUTSIDE OF EBAY. They don't insure your transaction WHEN you get screwed by the seller.
2) Don't trust anybody, because no-matter how legit and friendly they are on the phone, and how old they are (about 57 years old), they will screw you in some way. :x

As for me. So far, I have:
1) The shifter
2) The clutch pedal and master cylinder
3) Hopefully the flywheel, *if I don't get screwed this time around.
4) The clutch

-Frustrated Jeremy

Sorry to hear that man, I've been there before when trying to get a Subaru transmission for my GF's Outback, and it was a long ordeal. I had ordered a 35K mile used manual and received on with 104K, then I complained and they sent me one with 118K. The guy was scamming people and ended up getting fired, and a new owner took over and wouldn't work with me, it was such a pain, but I know to now get things in writing, and pay with paypal when possible. On the bright side even though I spent too much in the beginning for the low miles part, I ended up selling the second transmission and was only out $100 for the replacement job. I hope it works out for you.

Damn that sucks. Get the police involved in his area and also call his state's attorney general's office. I went through this as I mentioned before, I can't stand people that do this crap.

Good News. The guy that "screwed" me apparently had a change of heart and called me at midnight a few nights ago. The transmission is on its way along with shifter cables and a brake pedal. Hopefully it all arrives safely.

This is what I (will) have:
- 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L 5 speed Transmission
- 01 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L flywheel
- 02 Mitsubishi Eclipse Shifter Assembly
- 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse Shifter cables
- 02 Mitsubishi Eclipse Clutch Master Cylinder
- 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L Brake and Clutch Pedals
- 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse Slave cylinder with clutch lines
Total so far ~$750 (that includes shipping all this crap to me)

I still need:
- 3G Mitsubishi Eclipse clutch disc / pressure plate / throw out bearing.
- 3G Mitsubishi Eclipse clutch master cylinder reservoir and rubber hose.
- 3G Flywheel bolts
- 3G Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L Manual Transmission Mount

I'm back on track and happy again! :D

My flywheel is being machined today!

I *should* have my transmission Monday, UPS decided to reschedule my delivery. It may have something to do with the 108 weight.

I ordered the Transmission Mount, and the clutch reservoir parts that I needed from www.jnztuning.com. They are awesome!
I will have my flywheel back from being machined tomorrow, so I guess it's time to tally things up.

This is what I (will) have:
- 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L 5 speed Transmission
- 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L Brake Pedal
- 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse Shifter cables
- 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse Slave cylinder with clutch lines (hopefully)
$600 including shipping

- 02 Mitsubishi Eclipse Shifter Assembly
- 02 Mitsubishi Eclipse Clutch Master Cylinder
- 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L Clutch Pedal
~$85? (I don't actually remember)

- 01 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L flywheel
$77 INCLUDING machining it

- 3G Mitsubishi Eclipse clutch master cylinder reservoir and rubber hose.
- 3G Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L Manual Transmission Mount
$97 including shipping

- 3G Mitsubishi Eclipse clutch disc / pressure plate / throw out bearing.
Free! (used LOW mileage 1G Eclipse stuff my friend has)

- 3G Flywheel bolts
Free! (I think I have some)

Total so far ~$859

I would have liked to spend less, but shipped screws you every time, and finding stuff locally is impossible. Hopefully it is $859 worth of fun. Pictures to come when I have all the parts.
