If only there was a way to get jay Leno or bill gates involved! They may have plenty of Power to not only get people to sign it, and maybe have some political push power to make it happen.

I feel like there could be a chance if somebody with real car / politics knowledge made a solid run at this. Sadly - I'm not sure the petition is worded well enough for actual change to happen. I feel like the petition also needs something more like:

- The vehicles would be required to pass all safety and emissions tests for the state that they are in.
- Insurance would be mandatory on all of these vehicles
- Import taxes based on KBB/NADA values would be subjected to the importer and that money would fund some kind of vehicle safety programs or public transportation.

Basically, the politicians need to get something positive out of it, not just the guy buying the car. Sell the safety, the increased taxes, and environmentally friendly aspects of it. Then there is some hope. If the people making the decisions aren't getting their pockets filled or more voters, they probably will resist it.
