There is a sticker on the hood. It says 89 2.0

89. 2.0. Unless someone changed it after. Jeremy, is there any different physical feature on the motor it's self that's identifiable?

Re: Panty dropper
If it's an 89, it's either a 2.0L or a 2.6L. That looks more like a 2.0L than a 2.6L to me. Sadly, it's been so long since I worked on one of these, I don't recall the differences.

Re: Panty dropper
There is likely an engine code stamped on the block somewhere. If its between 2.0 and 2.6 though I'd also say 2.0. If I remember correctly the 2.6 had an evenly spaced header, not paired port like the 2.0. The valve covers are also a little different. The 2.6l valve cover had a pcv valve right at the front. I actually want to say the 2.6 was also chain driven as far as timing, while the other engines were all belt.

Re: Panty dropper
Are there going to be any extra wires from the truck that I need to save as this one is an automatic?

Re: Panty dropper
It has a timing belt, so that means it's a 2.0 G63B. Your 4G63T head might bolt right up.
The 2.6L has a chain.
Not too sure on the wiring side of things, I'd leave everything in place and remove if/when required.

Emissions & fuel economy haven't exactly been areas of strength for past rotary power plants, but absolutely no one with a soul has ever cared.

If it were me, and I had all of your parts, I'd simply try to fuel inject the engine you have. Forget the turbo for now. It would be a fun project and you don't have to deal with the turbo parts. At least for now. The 2.0L is a pretty indestructible engine.

I'm not too sure on the wiring side of things either, I'd go with what walt said and leave everything, you can always remove what you don't use later.
I DO know there will be at least some extra you'll need to keep. I know for certain that there is a relay in the interior fuse box that controls the overdrive for the automatics so you'll need to keep that for sure.

Re: Panty dropper
The two bottom sprocket things are too skinny for timing belt. Tried to post a pic. When I explain and add photo file is too big. If I try to post only photo it said not enough characters. I'm a moron who needs to buy parts
