Yeah the welcome here has been great. I have been disappointed with other forums that I have visited in the past. This one is pretty cool and there's lots of great info on here. Check out my posts in the newbie welcome section if you haven't yet. I will keep following your build. I always liked that body style Accord, especially the wagons.

Well I guess this will be the last update I post for the car. As some of you know already, yesterday the 150-200 year old oak tree in my front yard split into 3 pieces, and crushed almost every car at my house. My brothers pontiac g6 that he's only had for about 3 months looks like it went through the crusher at the junkyard. I can't really see my toyota through all the tree and his pontiac perisienne also got hit. Those 3 were parked in our driveway. My honda which was parked in the street was hit by another piece and was pushed about 3-5 feet out from the curb. There's still a lot of tree around it so I can't tell the total extent of the damage but from what I can see, the roof and trunk is caved in, everything on the driver side rear is completely crushed, and the rear window, windshield, sunroof, and passenger window is broken. 3 of the wheels should be ok along with the engine and trans and just about everything inside the car.

I still can't believe the tree just fell apart like it did. There was no wind or rain. The whole top half of the tree just split and fell 3 different directions. My friend and i were standing in my driveway when it fell. Luckily we saw it coming and were able to move in time.

Here's some pics of the tree my friend took from the roof of my house. They'll give you a good idea of just how big the tree was.

These are before the city came and cut most of the tree away from my car since it was blocking the street

Here is what I can see of the other cars in my driveway

My toyota

My brothers g6

Right now I'm not really sure what I'm going to do. The car insurance people haven't come out to look at things but the way it's looking, they're going to screw us over on just about everything. I only have liability on the truck and car. My brother has full coverage on his g6 but they won't even give him a rental car because apparently a huge ass tree falling and Cushing your car isn't considered an accident.

"Act of god", not even fully covered by comprehensive sometimes...
You may have to claim it on the homeowners policy, as a last resort.

Some people never have anything except ideas. Go do it.
Emissions & fuel economy haven't exactly been areas of strength for past rotary power plants, but absolutely no one with a soul has ever cared.

Homeowners insurance already came and cut a bs check to remove the rest of the tree. But it's not going to cover removing the whole thing. And I think they said they won't cover the cars for whatever reason. Our policy covers 200k for personal property damages, but the adjuster said the cars are up to the auto insurance people.

Really? With Allstate, whatever is on my property is covered if anything happens! I'd fight them on that. Too bad you didn't like closer. I'd tell you to come pick up the supra as a project replacement.

That's how it should be I would think. Problem with that is, technically the honda wasn't on my property since it was parked in the street

Damn Ethan - this really sucks. The G6 looks completely flat, and your Accord doesn't look much better. I'm sorry that you and your family have to deal with insurance companies, as they are known to be heartless and generally evil. I think it could be a rough few weeks getting this all sorted out.

The good news is that you get to start a brand new project soon, and you have firewood for a few years!

Uncovered the truck yesterday

Image

Blue book value is only 1800 so it might be totalled as well. Still not really planning on anything until I hear from the insurance people but I'm hoping if they total both out I'll get enough from both to buy something to drive and something for a project. Maybe something on two wheels.
