New shocks and 2" blocks in the rear. It's getting there... hopefully I can iron out everything before the shootout.

Looks like my truck, just a different color.

Keep up the good work!

Replaced the differential fluid last night. It was only a quart low.... Still trying to troubleshoot a vibration (it was there with the old wheel/tire combo...I was hoping new components would take care of it). It definitely feels like driveline (not apparent in the steering). Truck has new u-joints, rear shocks, and 2" lowering blocks in the rear. It still has the original transmission mount (180k), and I knew it was super sloppy when I threw the truck together. I'm crossing my fingers that's where the problem is. The only other source could be the 2" spacer I have between the driveshaft and the pinion on the rear end (since I moved everything forward for the swap). Although it was machined on a lathe and has the pilot step to keep it perfectly centered, it is quite heavy (steel). Anybody played with pinion angle on these trucks? ...I know one thing, it needs to be able to cruise comfortably at 70mph to go to the shootout or it isn't going.

/end rant. 8)

Mine doesn't vibrate, with a 3 inch drop, but I have a macro cab with a two piece drive shaft. I also go my shaft lengthened. He.. He.. Anyway. You could pull the rear blocks pretty easily as a test, as long as the u bolts will still work.

New Trans mount didn't fix it. When I was swapping rear tires to the front to try and isolate the shake, I noticed the one drum was hot. I got the drum off and one of the pads fell out. Thought I found the problem but it still shakes after putting it back together.

I'm starting to think this 2" steel spacer was a bad idea. May resort to having the driveshaft lengthened. :/

So I sat down with a buddy and made a 2" spacer out of 6061 aluminum on his lathe. We balanced the piece and installed a new rear u-joint while the driveshaft was out. The truck is pretty much shake free now

One thing I haven't done is a front alignment, so I plan to do that before the trip to Ohio for the Shootout. The truck cruises great at 70 mph, so I'm happy about that. 8)
