The front camera is 1080p 30fps, rear camera is 720p 30fps, but locked at 6 Mbps video rate on the front, 2 Mbps rear, so it's slightly blurry.

The modified firmware allows it to be changed up to a max of 15 Mbps front and rear (If I remember right), which should be clear enough to pull a frame from the video and read the license plate of car going the opposite way.

Some people never have anything except ideas. Go do it.
Emissions & fuel economy haven't exactly been areas of strength for past rotary power plants, but absolutely no one with a soul has ever cared.

Well, as most of you know, the 8 was wrecked last June.
The whole nightmare situation that followed is now well and truly over (unless I jinx myself again...), so it's rebuild time.
I've decided I'm going with factory new or used for everything, and avoiding any aftermarket items, except the control arm.

So far I've amassed the following:
  • Drivers side lower control arm (MOOG branded)
  • Drivers side front door
  • Drivers side oil cooler and upper bracket
  • Drivers side HID headlight
  • Drivers side fog light and bracket

Currently waiting for the following to come in the mail:
  • Headlight washer sprayer assemblies
  • Headlight washer pump and control module

I figure I may as well add the headlight washers, since I'll be buying a new bumper cover anyways. Third one's the charm.

Need to strip these off the junkyard car still:
  • Hood
  • Front wheel

I'll also need to order a fender, fender liner set, bumper cover, half a zillion fender liner clips, and some sheet metal.
Goal is to have everything buttoned up before the end of May.

Sweet! I'm glad to hear it is going back together! Though I wouldn't have been mad if it turned into a Rotary go-kart. ;)

Eventually, I just recently switched phones and did a backup of all the photos from last year.

Rebuild photos will come once the rebuild starts. :)

Went to start up and idle her yesterday, cue fire hose jet spray of oil from the pass side oil cooler lines.
Methinks she doesn't like being ignored.

Didn't you already have the dealer replace those? Or was that the driver side?

The drivers side lines were replaced a few years back, passangers side were not.

Picked up $1,500 in fender/bumper/core support/fender apron from the dealership today.
Now it's time to build the warchest up again and drop it off at my buddies shop to get slice-n-diced together.

Excellent! I'm counting on some pictures! Are you keeping it the same color?

Yeah, sunlight silver for everything, easier to just blend than to respray the entire car.

Did a little bit of work on the car today.
Pulled the remains of the bumper and drivers side headlight off, then removed passangers side headlight, front crash/bumper support, foam,, air silencer, and some other bits.

She's looking naked...
Image

Had to stop due to a tornado warning and subsequent downpour.

I did find the oil leak, it's at the hardline right by the quick connects on the passenger side cooler.

There are some more plastic pieces I'll need to get, like the fender/marker light holder on the drivers side, so I'll be contacting the dealership soon.

Found an 8 in the junkyard Wednesday with good cooler lines, and some of the remaining bits I need.

Got the lines, some harness chunks, and a like-new passenger side sill plate with the factory film still on the aluminum emblem.
Mine has had a dent in the aluminum emblem since I've owned the car, so that was a really satisfying thing to get.

Also obtained were a few dozen bolts, screws, clips, and retainers.
