New build in process.

Post by tektic » Mon Sep 18, 2017 1:55 pm

Hey guys.

My name is John I live in Ronkonkoma Ny and I'm doing a turbo swap on my 95 manual 7 bolt 4g64 mighty max. I also have a galant Gsx I converted to a 5 speed powered by a 2.1l turbo engine I built and tuned.

So far the truck received all new suspension bushings Shocks tie rods. I shortened the front springs and I changed out the rear shackles with leaf spring sliders. 1g eclipse seats have been mounted in the place of the bench and a ford 8.8 is shortened and all mocked up ready to weld in. I am going to be adding a drift brake and change out the proportion valve for an adjustable one.

I ran in to a snag with my drive shaft. The shop I brought it to said they couldn't lengthen it because it was tapered. I needed about an inch added along with a yoke for a ford u-joint. So looking at the cost of a whole new drive shaft I decided now was the time to move my engine forward.

I have collected a wide variety of parts over the years. In my position is a station transmission and a wide block g63b. I have a fresh built 1g head with ss valves and upgraded springs and retainers that is ported. A crappy smim with square tube runners. I also have a 2g head that I ported in need of a valve job and an evo 8 intake manifold.

My current plan is to move the engine foward 2", put NPR pistons in the 2.0 block with the 6 bolt head. Unless I can just put the dohc head on the 4g64 currently in the truck. I can't find anyone to confirm valve clearing by the stock mighty max pistons. That way I could mod the head to use a front water exit and front mount can and crank sensors.

Well, hope to get some insight. Thanks for reading.

Welcome ! Nice build! We need pics now. I personally think you can put a dsm head on a mightymax, but I never see anybody do it. You definitely should!! I think you will need NT galant timing gears.

DOHC swap is 100% doable, may need adjustable cam gears. IIRC the projectzerog site has the information on the swap, as well as the parts list.

Emissions & fuel economy haven't exactly been areas of strength for past rotary power plants, but absolutely no one with a soul has ever cared.
