Check Engine Light Trigger

Post by SOB Racing » Sun Dec 02, 2018 6:42 pm

So I want to get my check engine light working in my 4g63T (1g Chipped ECU) swapped Rx7....is the factory check engine light a positive or negative trigger?

I need to verify against the stock Rx7 whether it send a positive voltage or grounds out the light to complete the circuit.

I can check this when I get home tonight. That's where my diagrams live. Feel free to harass me at hotrodcoffeeshop@gmail.com if you don't hear back tonight. :)

So I found an old post on here that it's a negative trigger. So I wired in a 14v bulb I had laying around and it works. Turn the key on and it light up for a little while and then goes off. Does it matter what kind of bulb or LED I wire in for something more permanent?

I hadn't tried any bulbs other than the stock dash bulbs on mine. You should try it and let us know! :)
