That truck is awesome! It would be a shame to steal the diesel out of such a badass truck. You need to find one of those that is wrecked.

Learned there are private VIN verification services in California that hot rod guys use to sign off on their projects, I mean, beat the wait times at the DMV.

With a mechanical 2-wire diesel, how dumbed down could the wiring system get? Possible to ditch the ECU altogether? It would be cool to have an EMP-proof truck.

-Ignition
-Headlights
-Turn signals
-Electric radiator fan on/off switch
-Fog light on/off switch
-Electric fuel pump on/off switch
-Dash bulbs
-Heater fan
-Stereo
-Wipers
-Windshield sprayer
-Fuel gauge sender

Forgetting anything? I don't have AC or power steering.

If you do it right, you need no electrical on the motor except the starter and alternator.

Mechanical water temp/oil pressure is easy.

That leaves headlights/markers/tails, basically just lightbulbs.

As far as turning engine on/off, if it's a benz it uses a vacuum system for that, so maybe a solenoid to do that work.

Not sure on mitsu diesels.

You may also need the electrical for the 4x4 indicator box, if you decide to keep it.

Some people never have anything except ideas. Go do it.
Emissions & fuel economy haven't exactly been areas of strength for past rotary power plants, but absolutely no one with a soul has ever cared.
