Greetings from Indiana

Post by big_d » Mon Feb 04, 2013 10:57 am

Since it still says I'm the newest member here, I figured I'd introduce myself..... ahhhh, where do I start. My name is Dustin, and I live in Columbus, Indiana. I've been building and tuning dsms for 7-8 years. My interests are mainly in tinkering with Mitsu ECUs (if anyone has any need for ECU repair, cap replacement, socket work, EPROM chips burned. let me know.) I attend the DSM shootout every year... and try to get my $hitbox below to make a few passes.

So....why am I here.. I have always had interests in 4g63 swaps....and I have stumbled upon an '89 D50. Basic plans are to make this pickup a nice beater to haul crap in. It will be fairly low budget...but whatever the truck needs, it will get.

The plan is:
Move engine/trans forward a couple inches (alter motor mounts, trans mount, extend driveshaft)
Stock 4g63 (potentially headstuds), keep the 14b i guess
"Flipped" stock intake manifold
Stock SRT-4 fmic
2.4l MM water pump
1.8l dsm water neck
DSM pressure plate and FWD DSM flywheel (machined to accept pilot bearing)
3rd gen eclipse clutch disk
Fuel pump - stock dsm
Chipped EPROM ecu... Native wideband and speed density (3 bar MAP and IAT sensor) blah blah

Thanks for the space

Welcome Dustin! I am a big fan of 1GA's, so naturally I love your car. It appears that you will basically be doing the swap exactly as I would recommend doing it! Awesome! The stock 14B is great in a mightymax / Ram 50. In fact, I would say that when my truck had stock wheels & tires, along with the 14b, it was more fun than it is right now. I could smoke the rear tires on command back then. Now my truck sticks to the ground, which technically is better, but feels less fun.

Anyway - Welcome! I look forward to seeing the build!
